Objective
The brief required that research be done on any destination or place in South Africa to then breathe new life into it with a refreshed or completely new brand and visual identity.For this project, I selected Muizenberg, a coastal town situated in the Western Cape of South Africa, renowned for its picturesque beach, vibrant surf culture, and iconic colorful beach huts.
Insight
The core insight driving the project’s concept stemmed from the recognition that although Muizenberg is beloved by many and offers a sense of belonging to most, it’s often narrowly viewed solely as a surfing destination, overlooking the multitude of other activities and attractions it offers.
Solution
To present Muizenberg as a vibrant destination with something to offer everyone. Hence, the central message conveyed was that Muizenberg is a place where everyone can find their groove. Muizenberg isn’t just another cookie-cutter location; it’s a hub of creativity and individuality, where norms are tossed aside in favour of crafting its own unique culture. The concept’s ultimate objective? To showcase Muizenberg as the ultimate playground where everyone’s inner adventurer can find a home—and maybe a few waves to surf along the way!
